Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve

Covering 1759 hectares, this area was proclaimed a nature reserve in 1982. At 1575 meters, the highest point is the "Perdekop". The reserve can be reached via the Franschhoek Pass. Wonderful hiking trails, with distances from one to thirteen kilometers, branch out from the main gate. We started with the "Vista Trail" (2.4 km) and are guaranteed to come back to walk, for example, the " Upper Cats Path". Sturdy footwear is a must, as is a wind-proof jacket, because it can be windy up there. Be sure to take enough water, and then just enjoy the views. It is fantastic!
