Wetlands, St. Lucia

I love "traffic signs" like these, which you’ll come across in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Formerly known as Greater Saint Lucia Wetlands Park, just one of many highlights is Lake Saint Lucia itself. With a length of 40 kilometers and a width of up to 21 kilometers, it has an area of over 300 km², making it the largest esturine lake in South Africa. The 200-kilometer coastal strip is home to the second-highest forested sand dunes in the world. Nelson Mandela was fascinated by the Wetlands and said about them: "iSimangaliso is probably the only place in the world where the oldest and the largest land mammal share a territory with the oldest of all fish and the largest sea mammal."
